Mother's Day... Not My Best Day

Mother's day was hard this year. Mostly, I think, because my brain was running on fumes -- multiple days in a row of low carbing were making me miserable.

But this makeshift photo "booth" -- really just a backdrop -- at the playground allowed me for part one of my Mother's Day gift to myself. Part two was a Brooklyn hoodie sweatshirt for Calliope from Brooklyn Industries. I'd been lusting after one for her but I haven't bought her any new clothes for months -- she's all hand me downs, all the time -- but with Mother's Day as an excuse... my girl is decked out in a ginormous sweatshirt that should last her until she's three.

  2. I have been the same way with my little girl - not being able to justify buying her clothes when we have so many hand-me-downs. I totally support buying her something as a gift to yourself! ;)

  3. Sorry to hear your mother's day wasn't great...that is a beautiful photo of the 2 of you! What a neat idea at the park!

I'm so jealous of your hand me downs! We had a ton when she was a baby but our well dried up so to speak. I know I have to buy her summer clothes soon but it's so expensive, even just for staples...her tees from last year are more like belly shirts this year :(

  4. Sorry your day wasn't great. What a great picture of the two of you! And every now and then you have to splurge on something nice. We live in the world of hand me downs and second hand. I allow myself to buy one new outfit every time she switches to a new size. She's been stuck in 12 monthes forever, I'm looking foreword to something new.

  5. What a great picture! You both look so cute and so happy. You'd never guess you'd had a bad day.

Hope you're feeling better now that you're back on the carbs. I love that you know your body well enough to know when something isn't working.
