Come Out, Come Out, Wherever You Are

According to others, it's

So leave me a comment and tell me something about yourself! Are you an SMC (currently or in the making)? Where do you live? (City and state). What brings you to my blog?

I'd love to have a proverbial peek at you! And thanks for reading in the first place.

And to those who already comment... I love you guys!

  1. My name is Angie and I am currently 29 weeks pregnant and a SMC. I found your blog when I searched for blogs written by single mothers on purpose…I had no idea such a world even existed until I bravely struck out on my own. Born and raised in Indiana, I'm a nurse, only child, and love all things literature. :)

  2. Hi. Long-ish time lurker. I found your blog when I was seriously considering the SMC route but I ended up getting married. I am currently pregnant. I really enjoy the blog and your perspective.

  4. I have no idea what a SMC is, so I guess I'm not one? I came via the Connected blog feed that Dresden put together. I'm finding so many interesting blogs! I live in Maryland outside of DC, though I'm from a small town in Oregon. I hope to never live there again. I've been blogging since 2001, but these days my life is not as bloggable, mainly because I've learned to keep my fingers from clacking out every thought I have about the real life people who annoy me.

  5. Hi Abby!

Still here with Millie (just turned 18 months)down here in Texas. I figured out how to post a while back and have been doing so when I have something specific to add, but I read often and enjoy hearing of Calliope's adventures and all your Brooklyn doings.

  6. Hi! I'm Suzanne, SMC in upstate NY to my darling daughter who just turned two. I have enjoyed your blog for a long time (and also love your blog roll and tend to pop by your site to do a quick check for new posts by other bloggers). Despite being an active reader, I don't blog myself -- and thus have never gotten into commenting. I'll try to change that!

  7. Hi Abby!

I am an SMC with a sweet little 2 month old named Sadie. We live in San Diego, and I found your site about a year ago when I was trying to get pregnant and looking for other women's stories (I think I found you through Creating Motherhood). I have loved reading about you and Calliope (and Dresden and W), you all gave me hope before I got pregnant, and inspiration and a sense of kinship after. I am a pretty serious lurker, though; I seldom feel like I have anything all that important to add. ;-)

  8. Hi, Abby. I've been reading for a while, but I don't comment often. I am married with a 3 year old boy and a 19 year old stepson.

  9. I'm a waffler. I'm thinking about becoming and SMC but scared to death of trying to raise a child alone. BAby through 3rd grade or so doesn't phase me but a teenager, ack! And what if my child hates me for being an "old" mom, for not staying home with him/her when they're little, for not having a father? So I'm just getting prepared financially while I wait for the scales to fall on one side or the other. I'm not sure thorugh which blog I connected with yours but I follow several SMC blogs.

  12. Hi Abby, I am nicole from PA! I am currently 26 weeks pregnant and a SMC! I found one blog from a search and linked through to a bunch that I read faithfully about twice a week! Your blog and many of the others helped me from thinking to planning! And before I know it my baby boy will be here! If only I could decide on a name!

  14. Hi Abby! My name is Anna and I'm from Copenhagen, Denmark. I found your blog through some other SMC-blogs and I love following the life of you and your beautiful daughter. I'm 35 years old and have been thinking about becoming SMC for a few years, and will begin IUI next month. Since I now de-lurked myself, I will try to comment more in the future...

  15. Hi Abby! I'm Katie and I'm from Minneapolis, MN. I am a hopefully SMC in the making. I wanted to start trying sooner than this, but a potential diagnosis of PCOS made me realize that I need to meet with an RE and have some more tests done before I feel comfortable moving forward. My first IUI should be in March/April, depending on how the cards fall. Your story, along with others, has been very inspiring and has kept me going during the discouraging times.
